Stages 2 – 6 covers the entire process for setting up the NC Phonics Check 2025 markbook for both Y1 and Y2 Re-Checks, making the returns and producing analysis reports and reports for parents.
Phonics checking starts 9th June 2025 Checking period ends 20th June 2025
Deadline for Phonics returns: CBC & BBC Schools: Mon 23rd June 2025

Stage 2A - Prepare NC Phonics Check 2025 Markbook for Year 1
Stage 2B – Identify Y2 Pupils for Re-Checks (and find missing Phonics data) and prepare NC Phonics Check 2025 Markbook for Year 2 re-checks
Stage 3 - Enter Phonics Data (for both Y1 and Y2)
For pupils absent screen check up to 20/6
Headteacher Declaration Form (HDF) available from Primary Assessment Gateway from Mon 10th June – submission deadline Mon 30th June.
Threshold mark will be posted HERE on Monday 23rd June 2025

Stage 4 - Create Y1 & Y2 Re-Check Phonics return files (submissions can be made anytime between 10th – 24th June)
Submission deadline: CBC & BBC Schools: Mon 23rd June 2025
Stage 5 – Produce Phonics reports for Parents and results summary reports (for both Y1 & Y2)
Stage 6 – Phonics Quick Analysis - simple graphs for Year 1 and Y2 Re-checks broken down into groups (Gender; SEN; EAL; EverFSM and Any Pupil Premium)
Submit Headteacher Declaration Form (HDF) deadline (30/6/25) for submission
